Today’s dosiraks for Caths and Ganns

I’m particularly excited about today’s dosirak because it features a lot of healthy dishes. I have stir-fried broccoli (only Php34.00 for this nice head of broccoli at the local store), boiled carrots, young corn, lettuce, bulgogi beef, and onigiri rice. This is Caths’ section:

Wrapped and sealed with Cat(hs) tape!

Of course, with mine, I get a larger portion, so I made a female bear hanging out in a garden. Isn’t it delightful to see so much veggies?

I <3 vegetables!

Daddy Deen’s April 26 dosirak

This is my dosirak from this morning. (Forgive the girly lunchbox; I had to have smaller portions.) I brought stir-fried chayote, steamed bok choi, grilled chicken with rosemary, and onigiri with Japanese herbs (courtesy of my friend Sarah)!

Back in business!

Hi friends! Nathan and I are going to try to bring this blog back into business. He’ll post regularly here, as will I. Nicki, meanwhile, will probably have to work it out with her Mom, but just so y’all know, yeah, we’re back. Cheers and God bless!

It’s our anniversary

Today, Cathy and I celebrate four years of marital bless, pun very much intended.

We’re eating out at the Spirals.

Happy anniversary, doll. Thanks for eight great years of love and memories.

Loving Smart Telecommunications right now

Cathy and I well up every time we see that advertisement on television for Smart. You may have seen it: an old wife caring for her husband who suffered a stroke and is now semi-paralyzed. She’s puttering around the house, giving him details of how they’re getting along, and he can’t respond at all – until she receives a text message from him that reads, “Salamat Ma Love you.”

God, I’m tearing up right now.

Having a father who went through exactly the same thing – can’t speak, can’t move – and seeing my mother work double-time to provide for his needs, well, this advertisement spoke to me (and Cathy, too, who saw what her mother-in-law sacrificed to take care of her father-in-law).
This ad was a stroke of genius, pun intended. Bravo, ad people behind Smart.

Plus, the fact that I have this spankin’ new phone as a result of Smart’s spectacular retention plans?

I am so loving Smart right now.

Godspeed, Steve

STEVE IRWIN

I’m genuinely shattered by the death of Steve Irwin. He was an incredible man who affected the lives of millions of people worldwide, including my own and that of my family. My prayers go out to his family and all those affected by his death.

Crikey – I think I’m going to go out and buy a copy of the Croc Hunter DVD.

Help us find a nanny for Nathan

Hi everyone! Cathy and I are looking for a female nanny for our three-year-old son, Nathan.

The yaya’s primary responsibility is to watch over our son in our absence during the day while we report to work. We’ve developed a daily schedule to which Nathan is getting used, and all the yaya has to do is follow the schedule, which includes playtime, television time, and meals (she should know how to cook basic meals).

In addition to that, she just needs to ensure our small Monumento home, including the dishes and the kitchen, is kept clean. She is not expected to do our laundry.

The yaya’s starting salary is P2500 with opportunities for salary increase depending on performance.

If you know of anyone who may be interested, please send us a text message at 0920.907.3962 or email us at superblessed at gmail.com. Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks for the memories, Andre

Andre Agassi’s career has ended with a loss to Benjamin (not Boris) Becker.

I remember watching Andre Agassi play, a talented, mulleted brat of a player back in the day. I was so inspired and wanted him to win every match.

I can’t believe his career’s over. Wow. Let’s wait until little Agassi and little Sampras grow up. Who knows? Maybe Nathan’ll challenge ‘em! LOL

A resort in Palawan I wish we could visit

In all my excitement to visit Palawan, I did a search for a beach resort in Palawan, and found very few official Palawan resort websites. What is up with all these Palawan resort package deals from travel agencies and portals? I’d like to see what each Palawan resort has to offer on its own – that’s how we booked a great deal at the Hotel Fleuris hotel in Palawan in the first place.

Anyway, in the course of searching for a resort in Palawan, I stumbled across this Palawan beach resort, and fell in love with it: the Flower Island Resort in Palawan! It’s a private island resort only a few minutes away from Palawan proper, and seems like the ideal island vacation paradise come true!
Listen to this: “The Flower Island Resort in Palawan offers immaculate white sandy beaches, breathtaking underwater scenery, access to a spectacular pearl farm, and a host of island getaway activities, all available to Guests in at atmosphere of exclusive privacy, peace and quiet.” Access to a pearl farm! A chance to go scuba diving! Ooh!
This Palawan resort has seven large cabin-type air-cooled huts – nights are apparently so cool at this resort in Palawan that airconditioning is rendered inconsequential – with hammocks and terraces.

Since there are only eight huts on this resort in Palawan, we get personalized service. We can go snorkeling, or explore the forest to “discover exotic flora and fauna”… we can even climb the hills of Flower Island and see the ocean for miles and miles. And of course, the pearl farm!
If I had the money (it’s USD90 a night!) and the time, I would definitely stay at the Flower Island Resort in Palawan!
